Player nicknames

Postby The Admin on Fri Mar 07, 2008 9:46 pm

A lot of players have nicknames and I know where most come from but there are some I just can't figure out. I'm sure others are also curious so we should post nicknames whose origins we're uncertain about and hopefully someone can enlighten us.

To start with Rooney is affectionately called WAZZA by his peers

Christian Vieri of Fiorentina Bobo

and Romario, Baixinho which means Shorty.

I remember Emmanuel Armah of Hearts fame was called Aseelewey can some one enlighten me on the meaning ?

You mean striker Abdul Aziz of Gt. Oly, known as "Rikichi Man"?
In his time, there was a top horse named Rikichi Man. Aziz was kinda fast.

Rooney called Wazza cos he's called Wayne and he's England's latest hero since Gazza. Hence Wazza!
