Netherlands... The Senegal of Europe!

Postby Yaovi » Sun Jun 17, 2012 8:42 pm

They have the best strikers in the competion- Ned (v. Persie, Robben, Huntelaar) Sen (Ba, Cisse, Ndoye) but ZERO balance. Senegal introduced us to the 4-2-4, Holland tried to do better with the 4-1-5!

End up with THREE losses! :D

Greece = Mali. Poor country in bad political situation playing with 10 behind the ball, still end up doing well

Ghana = Italy. Play intelligent tactical football but only win by small margins. Have a solid defense and hotheads in attack Ita- (Balotelli, Cassano,) Ghana- Gyan

CIV = Germany. Seem to win in group stages without breaking a sweat. Somehow end up losing in semis or final though. Lead by a tough target man Drogba/Gomez and an amazing box to box midfielder Yaya Toure/Schweinsteger. Have a winger whose crap for his club but solid for National team Kalou/Podolski

Anymore?

Zambia = France. Dont have a clear gameplane but very impressive offensively. Can surprise teams if they are not careful

Morocco = England. Every year their fans and media write them as a favorite. End up being crap!

Cameroon = Portugal. Have a decent team but rely too much on their star player. Always have trouble qualifying, but once there dont perform too badly

Russia=Nigeria. Big country with huge population. Still unable to produce a decent team. Often times link to past glory days and think their country is the most powerful in the world. Biggest continental oil producers

Tunisia = Croatia. Have little heard of players but end up playing really nice technical football. Always an outsider but never a real challenger to win it

Algeria = Turkey. Have the most passionate and crazy fans. Play based on emotions, they can be amazing when motivated or crap otherwise. Playing in their backyard is always intimidating even though in reality they are rather average

Poland= Eq Guinea. Hosted the competiton. Tried to integrate foreign players in their team. They increase a bit but still fall short

Botswana = Ireland. Very happy to qualify. End up being the whipping boys of the competition

Well I was going more in terms of playing style than performance. Even though I am hoping for a French victory. Who would you have put then?

Serbia = Congo. Used to have an illustrous past when their nation had a different name- Yugoslavia/Zaire. Have a really good team on paper but lack of organization and corruption have hampered them. Politically have suffered ethnic problems

Hard to come up with one for Togo.. Mabye like Slovakia? Rely on 1 star player- Hamsik. Somehow managed to qualify for 1 big competition. Havnt really heard from them since
