Legia Warsaw chasing Kotoko defender

Posted On Thursday, 9th February 2012

Awal Mohammed has been linked with Legia Warsaw

By Patrick Akoto

Asante Kotoko defender Awal Mohammed has been strongly linked with a move to Polish giants Legia Warsaw.

The lanky centre-back is believed to have impressed scouts of the Eastern European side and are considering him this summer.

Mohammed joined Kotoko from second-tier Gomoa Fetteh Feyernord last season and has since impressed at the heart of defence.

If he impresses on trial, he will sign a long-term deal with the club and reunite with former team-mate Albert Bruce who has inked a three-year deal with the club.

Why not?
He just needs to cut down on giving away Penalty Kicks.

Because I believe there are others waiting for the 1st Black Stars call-up that are better than him: Jerry Akaminko & Ahmed Adams (Chelsea).

Awal is over-rated.

Fulham keeping tabs on Ghana defender Vorsah

Posted On Thursday, 16th February 2012

Fulham manager Martin Jol is having Ghana defender Isaac Vorsah scouted for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old is back with his German club TSG Hoffenheim after featuring for the Black Stars at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations where Ghana finished fourth.

The ex Swedru All Blacks defender has grown into an established player since moving to the Rhein-Neckar-Arena in 2007.

And his impressive performance in recent times in the Bundesliga appears to interests Fulham’s Dutch manager who is looking to further strengthen his side following the January arrival of Pavel Pogrebnyak from Stuttgart.

Vorsah who has been capped 33 times for the Ghana national team was voted the best defender in Ghana in 2007.

Fifa Clears Ghanaian Cofie Bekoe To Play For Lierse

Cofie Bekoe is now eligible to play for Belgian side SK Lierse

Ghana midfielder Cofie Bekoe has been declared eligible to play for SK Lierse in the Belgian top flight by Fifa, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 23-year old walked out on Egyptian Premier League side Petrojet due to unpaid wages for months.

But the Suez-based contested his move and claimed the right to a free transfer but the world governing body Fifa has now declared him a free agent.

Bekoe, nicknamed “Africa Messi”, during his stay in Egypt has been training with Lierse since August.

The former Nania FC player is now set to complete his paperwork and begin a career for the first time in Europe.

Bekoe has signed a two year contract with Lierse.

German Bundesliga outfit TSG Hoffenheim have dispelled reports linking defender Isaac Vorsah to English side Fulham.

The centre-back’s future at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena has been speculated since returning from the just ended Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

But Hoffenheim expect the Ghana international to see out his contract with the club which expires in 2014.

”I spoke with Isaac (Vorsah) and he has not granted an interview anywhere. The story is purely baseless,” Hoffenheim director of sport Ernst Tanner said.

The 23-year-old was a member of Hoffenheim squad which gained promotion from the second-tier league three seasons ago.

Vorsah who has been capped 33 times for the Ghana national team was voted the best defender in Ghana in 2007.

He has been left out of the Ghana’s squad to face Chile in an international friendly on 29 February.

Kwadwo Asamoah is still being linked to Juventus.

He will apparently not cost less than 15m Euros and it seems that AC Milan has entered the race (no official offer yet). His contract with Udinese is valid til 2015.

Bismark Idan parts ways with Goztepe (Turkish Div. II).

The striker signed a 3-year contract at the beginning of the season. The striker had only 263 mins of play and one single assist since then (no goal). Contract abrogated!

Ghana Striker Schlupp Signs New Leicester Deal

Ghana striker Jeff Schlupp has signed a new deal for English championship side Leicester City which will expire in June 2015.

The German-born is highly rated at the King Power Stadium and impressed during a loan spell at League One side Brentford towards the end of last season.

Schlupp scored a hat-trick on his Leicester debut against Rotterdam United in the Carling Cup back in August.

The 19-year-old has made 17 appearances for the club scoring five goals.

Manager Nigel Pearson told the club’s official website: “Jeff is a promising young player with a lot of potential.

“We are looking forward to working with him over the next three years and I am sure he will continue to progress as a Leicester City player.

“At just 19, he remains a player with a lot to learn in the game.

“But he has already shown a lot of quality and scope to improve.”

Schlupp earned a shock debut Ghana call-up in November last year against Gabon in a friendly and was a second half substitute in the 2-1 win.
