Youngster Atsu Dreams Of Black Stars Call-up


Ghanaian whizkid Christian Atsu Tsawam says his biggest ambition is to play for the Black Stars.


The FC Porto loanee, 20, has been in good form in the Portuguese Liga Sagres and was on target for his team Rio Ave in their 3-0 win over Victoria Setubal over the weekend.


He went on to set up Vitor Gomes and Yazalde in the 44th and 80th minutes to wrap up the win.


The talented youngster has scored five times since joining Rio Ave from Porto and is hoping his exploits in Portugal will earn him his dream callup to the Black Stars.


“My biggest dream is to play in the national team so I am always working hard so I am called to the Black Stars,” he told Accra-based Radio XYZ.

So he scored one, and had 2 assists? Had a hand in all the goals scored? Seems like he's on fire!

IMO he needs to work harder on his goal scoring abilities to stand a chance at being a first team player at Porto. He has scored some beautiful and decisive goals but he needs consistency. He doesnt need to be a strikers striker...but at least his goals needs to reflect that of a forward/attacking midfielder

Ghanaian whiz kid Christian Atsu Twasam was named Player of the Season on Wednesday night by Portuguese top-flight side Rio Ave.

The 20-year-old, on loan from giants FC Porto, was played a starring role in Rio Ave’s survival this season.

His six goals in 26 appearances proved key in beating three candidates to the award.

The former Cheetah FC player believes the award is yet another morale booster for his young career.

“I won the award yesterday and I’m very excited about it. It shows that I’m really doing well and improving,” Atsu exclusively told MTNFootball.com

“I believe strongly in God and everything I do and believe Porto is watching my progress.”

Atsu is widely expected to return to his parent club FC Porto after the end of the current Portuguese season.

He won the FIFA Blue Stars Youth Cup best player award in August 2011 and went ahead to lift the FC Porto Best Young Player Award the same year.
