They did alright. The Spanish are really good. When they started playing attacking toward the end we saw a small preview of what would have happened if they played like that all game. There was a lot more space for the Spanish to operate and there were many offside calls made to prevent what would have been easy goals for the Spanish.
In the end conceding an early goal killed their plan.
