Obviously you don't follow this sport much. FYI Larry Merchant is the biggest jerk in all of boxing, hanging on the coattails of these gallant warriors who lay their lives on the line every time they step in the ring, and then he comes in to try and score some cheap points as an astute interviewer who "gives no quarters". And FYI this is not the first time he has adopted that kind of provocative stance in interviewing boxers. Check the records, but off the top of my head I can refer you to his interviews of gentleman Lennox Lewis, Hall-of-fame sureshot Bernard Hopkins, and bad boy James Toney who was driven to the point that he snatched the mike from Larry`s hands and smashed it on the floor.

Funny that you see everything wrong with Mayweather calling Larry a piece of sh*t but you see nothing wrong with someone in Larry`s position threatening to kick the boxer`s buttocks.

Clottey doesn`t need to fight anymore. Most boxers toil and risk serious injury, or even death, to get that big money fight and secure their future. Then they can quit and get on with their lives. If you get your hands on this book, IRISH THUNDER (biography of boxer Micky Ward), you might wanna check it out. It gives a good idea of what these boxers go through to make a living.

I can't believe that people are villifying Mayweather for deciding not to play the gentleman with Ortiz. This Ortiz is the same guy who blatantly headbutted Mayweather, and when Mayweather took a minute to complain to the ref, Ortiz took advantage of the situation and nailed him with a follow-up cheap shot.

To me the the decisive point in the fight was not the left hook that Mayweather landed when the ref tried to get them to resume fighting, heck it wasn't even the question of whether or not the ref gave the command to "box on", it was the fact that Ortiz turned to complain to the ref, knowing that a few seconds earlier when Mayweather turned to complain to the ref after the headbutt, he took advantage of Mayweather's distracted state and hit him again.

Simply put Ortiz started the dirty stuff, Mayweather finished it. Let's hope the kid has learnt that valuable lesson: You live by the sword, you die by the sword.
