But you did not answer my question. am comfused about banku and the apkele food which is which at all ? oh some ewe people should come to thread now. where is Yaovi when you need him ? :oops:

Banku or Etsew or Benku is mainly prepared from corn dough but akple has more of cassava dough included....i think...the more the cassava dough the stretchier the aklpe :lol:

interesting so banku is not an ashanti dish? i thought asantes make banku and our Ewe bredas make akple, no? :shock:

The difference is in the fermentation.

Akple is pure corn flour and cassava dough
banku is fermented corn dough and cassava dough

I thought the first line even summarized it for u. The difference is the fermentation.
One is corn flour...u just mill the corn and that is it....u ready to cook akple.
The other is the soaked corn flour left for days=Fermentation

apkle is ewe banku not ewe
Fanti is between Ga and Fanti. we love fermented dough
and i think truemamamia gave the best description..
banku has more corn and akple is just fresh corn dough and a lot of starchy casava
