Help!!! Why is my OAS disabled

I use MaAfee antivirus. In the last few days, I have noticed that the On Access Scan (OAS) has been disabled. Whe I go to the virus scan console and enable the feature, nothing happens even if I re-start the computer. Is there anybody out there to help me?
