There are 11 men on the island who have run the 100m in 10 seconds or under, something only four British men have ever done. Cut them a little more slack and one finds there are 17 Jamaicans who have run the Olympic 100m qualifying time of 10.18sec in the last four months alone.

Jamaica had already run four of the five fastest 4x100m times in history, one in the heats here and the other three in the finals of the last three major athletics championships, the Worlds in Berlin and Daegu and the Beijing Olympics. They used a rotating of seven different men to do it. They have five of the 10 fastest sprinters in history to choose from, and that is before considering the 200m specialists like Warren Weir. So the fact that they were missing Asafa Powell, because of the groin strain he suffered in the 100m final last Saturday, was hardly likely to hamper them much. Brilliantly, after Jamaica and the USA, the third fastest relay team in history is not Great Britain, Russia, France or Trinidad & Tobago but the Racers Track Club, whose quartet from Kingston performed the feat in 2009.

They can do it without Powell, they could probably do it without Bolt too. Some day soon they may have to. Bolt says he wants to retire by the time he is 30. That will be almost exactly after the Rio Olympics. He has said that when he goes home and reminisces about the journey he has been on, he may shed a tear or two. They could be the same tears that Alexander the Great cried when he realised he had no worlds left to conquer.

F*uck you KO. Big up, Cousins. What doping? You had been saying the same crap 6 years ago. The U.S tied the world record that the Jamaicans had but still got smoked. O what a joy to hear the utterance from a Rasta. Jamaicans are unique. One of the few black people who are so proud of their African heritage. They even gave us our national colours. If you can root for them, the shove your boomboclatt self-hating black arse somewhere.

kai!!

where have u been hiding these days?

Onua, I'm there. With KO still putting up his template here, I sometimes focus on other very important things of life. Our Jamaican cousins have made me very happy this Olympics. Aside from being our cousins, they are as third world as it gets and the Yanks can't just take it. Same way they felt when we stuck it to them in world cup. I was listening to an interview of Ben Johnson ( one of the greatest sprinters of our time who was made to pay because the other cheater Carl Lewis had to be projected as the best). He was asked what he thought about Usain Bolt. Interestingly, Johnson comes from the same Parish as Bolt. In the interview, Ben Johnson told his story about his infamous episode. Then when it came to Usain Bolt, Johnson said he liked what he was doing; he added 'beating the americans'. Now they are all over the place insulting Bolt that he claims he is a legend. They would rather have it that Michael Phelps is the greatest athlete of all time. . The saddest part of the Olympics is we west africans from whom the Jamaicans and most of our american brothers and sisters descend could not even win a medal in sprint. Our Nigeria Sister and one Ivorian one gave their best but it was not enough. Nigeria for one has so much potential; they do have considerable resources to impact sprint as they once did before in 1984. Ghana? We are not serious. I remember the Ohene Kakaris, Ernest Obengs, George Daniels, Alice Anum and Hannah Afriyie! We have retrogressed. We better get some accolades in football since that is what we seem to focus. But Big up Jamaica!

Big up to Jamaica! I always tell them they are an extension of Ghana so when they win we win too. They have that Akan gene going on.   When we were doing our thing in the World Cup in South Africa it was for them too. Seriously though I feel the same way too. When a third world country sticks it to Yankee eee sweet paaa... b'cos them yanks too make too much muff muff, plus the yanks were trying to put Michael Phelps on the pedestal as the greatest athlete that ever lived but Bolt has challenged that. He is not American and damn! he ain't white. Don't want to bring the race thing in but trust me if it were a white boy breaking records left and right in what is considered by many the most watched event of any Olympics the sprints, trust me the discussion wouldn't be about Phelps. Go figure. Bolt needs to focus on his health and three peat the feat at the Rio Olympics in 2016. That will silence the Americans for a long time

Pope, Yohan claims Tyson Gay was shaking. Yohan said immediately he received the baton, he said in his head to Gay: "Yuh Dead"  It reminds of the movie 'School face'. Jamaicans are full and humour; but they 'mean' business; don't try to cheat a jamaican, he or she will fight back. The Maroons   Bolt and Co say they were never worried about the American; they were more concerned about passing the stick around. They knew they had the speed.
